Kumba celebrates World Press Freedom Day. WPFD with call for greater transparency and protection of journalists particularly ahead of upcoming elections.
The theme Reporting in a brave New World. The impact of artificial intelligence on press Freedom and the media brought officials business leaders and media veterans.
Journalists led by Camasej kumba chapter president Nzaih Bweh urged administration to open up source and ensure reporters safety. He stressed that we must stand together to ensure truth prevails, implored the administration to guarantee the protection of journalists, so that we can fulfill our virtal role of informing the public.
Presentation from Journalist Innocent Yuh, Barrister Dr Ebolo Emmanuel on legal challenges faced by media professionals sparked discussions.
Awards were presented to outstanding journalists and key figures in Kumba. Dr Isaac Nguba mayor of Kumba 3 and the City mayor Greg Mewanu pledged to foster open communication with the press.
The celebration attended by dignitaries including the Deputy Director of communication, representatives concluded with a celebration among journalists reaffirming their commitment to press Freedom. The speech of Camasej national president Jude vibrant was also presented.
